It’s that time of year again! The Caernarfon Food Festival will be returning next month, bringing with it great opportunities to try a variety of freshly cooked food and produce from local businesses.
If you’ll be stopping in Snowdonia holiday parks in May, it’s a great way to find unique gifts to take home for friends and family – and for yourself! The festival being held in May means there’s a good chance we’ll have some sunny weather to enjoy browsing the stalls and exploring the town of Caernarfon.
During the festival, there will be plenty of stalls offering free tasters, as well as a host of fun activities for all the family to enjoy. The aim of the festival is to celebrate Caernarfon’s culture and local produce, as well as raise awareness of healthy eating within Wales.
You’ll also get the chance to take part in live cookery demonstrations, in the hopes of leaving you inspired to go home and have a go at creating yummy Welsh dishes yourself.
The festival is taking place on the 13th of May this year. Last year, the town of Caernarfon was packed full of visitors to the festival enjoying the local foods and crafts on display. Artisan ice creams, homemade pastries and locally sourced crab fish cakes were just a few of the stalls featured in the 2016 festival.
The individual stalls for 2017 are yet to be announced, but you can take a look on the festival website to keep yourself in the loop.
Once you’ve visited every stall possible, you can then enjoy a stroll through the historic town of Caernarfon. Take a walk along the scenic harbour, or perhaps visit the medieval Caernarfon Castle.
Within the castle, you can explore the grounds and interior which features a Royal Welch Fusiliers museum. Those with an interest in military history won’t want to miss learning about Wales’ oldest infantry.
You’ll also be able to learn more about the castle’s history, and experience fantastic views of the town from atop the towers and bridges within the castle.
