The iconic town that is Portmeirion welcomes music, film art and culture through its doors this September with the inaugural Festival Number 6. But, for those of you that find the prospect of camping and sleeping on the ground for 3 nights too much to bear, then maybe West Point Beach Resort and Holiday Park North Wales would be of interest.
Set in the grounds of the architecturally magnificent Portmeirion, this new festival has been the subject of lots of hype in music and art circles.
Portmeirion founder Clough Williams-Ellis’s had a motto: “Cherish the past, adorn the present and construct for the future”, and Festival Number 6 wish to continue in this vein through re-inventing what a festival should and shouldn’t be.
Billed as a festival like no other – it is indeed jam packed full of music, DJ’s, dance, comedy, film, art and much, much more.
“Portmeirion will come alive with intimate readings and talks, exclusive film screenings with live soundtracks, stand-up comedy, art trails through the woods, storytelling in the clearings, master classes, pop-up theatre and art installations.”
It boasts some heavy weight music icons such as Primal Scream, New Order, Death in Vegas and Spiritualized; but these are complemented by plenty of up and coming indie favourites – the likes of The Whip, Cate Le Bon, Race Horses and Everything, Everything are sure to impress.
Mix in free laughs provided by comedians of Phil Jupitus’s calibre; the screen premier of The Libertines docu-film; a plethora of Literature greats doing talks about life, love, luck and languish; art installations dotted here there and everywhere; and of course a sprinkling of The Prisoner. You have yourself a once in a lifetime experience.
Camping is available, but those of you that find the prospect of sleeping on the ground for 3 nights too much to bare then maybe West Point Beach Resort/Holiday park Llyn Peninsula(LINK) would be of interest.
It would make sense for you to clear your diary for the 14th,15th and 16th of September.
You wouldn’t want to miss out – this is going to be fun, fun and more fun.
