West Point Resort Holiday Homes in Snowdonia are within close proximity to a number of local attractions suitable for all the family. Whether it is a glorious sunny day or pouring down with rain, these three attractions provide you with a range of activities indoor and out.
Greenwood Forest Park is a short twenty-five minute drive away from our holiday homes in Snowdonia and has a wide variety of activities, suitable for all ages. It was voted Best Family Attraction in North Wales for 2011, 2012 and 2013, which means rest assured you and the family will have a fantastic day out. Set within 17 acres of beautiful woodland, the park has everything you need for an enjoyable and active day, including the world’s only people-powered roller coaster and the longest sledge run in Wales. In addition, the park is suitable for toddlers to run around and they can enjoy the Little Forest Play Barn, Toddlers Village and Tunnel Warren. If you get peckish throughout the day then pop into the Green Oak Café to enjoy a range of light lunches and fair-trade, locally produced products.
If you want to spend your day exploring Wales industrial heritage, then Sygun Copper Mine is the place for you. Found in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, you are surrounded by vast lakes and beautiful villages before exploring deeply into the old copper mine. Here you find amazing scenery as you channel your way through tunnels and chambers. You can pick up headphones to listen to audio presentations to expand your knowledge on the process of mining. Once you reach sunlight again you can access the Metal Detection area and stroll through the nearby village of Beddgelert.
Museums and historic locations are great for those who want to expand their knowledge on local heritage and The National Slate Museum makes for a fun day out. As you wander through the museum you can find out all about traditional crafts and skills, whilst listening to stories about the lives of 15,000 boys and men of Gwynedd who worked in the Quarry. This is a free attraction, with free parking nearby and a range of facilities such as the Museum Shop, Picnic Area in Padarn Park and tasty treats at the Caffi’r Ffowntan Café.
