Wakestock this year was sure to be a lively one, with massive stars Dizzie Rascal, Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks and Calvin Harris taking to the stage. Unfortunately the festival was well and truly flooded on Friday, leaving a few lakes where there had previously been dry land. The rest of the weekend however was perfect and sunny, a big relief to all the Wakestockers who were there to enjoy the music and extreme sports in the welsh countryside.
The wakeboard competition went to Dan Nott who had an awesome run in the marina on Saturday morning. Amber Wing won the woman’s title. Every night was a rocking success, including the pre-party on Thursday night, which saw the weekend launch with a bang.
Incredible performances by all the names already mentioned along with Hadouken, All American Rejects, Doctor P, KOAN Sound, DJ Fresh and many more. Once again Wakestock provided an awesome weekend of music, sports and good times, and all the festival goers didn’t fail to show their appreciation and go absolutely mental.
This year new micro chipped wristbands were sent in the post, in place of the traditional ticket. This method of micro chipped wristbands are the first of their kind used at a UK festival, having previously seen action in the US and in one off gigs such as the recent Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at Knebworth House. These wristbands have benefits such as being quicker and more efficient, however some people think that they take away from the spirit of the festival, and many festival goers were upset at the fact they didn’t have a physical ticket. Overall, this year’s Wakestock was yet again an awesome and successful one, roll on 2013!
Wakestock takes place every July and is always a huge success. As well as wakestock there are also a wide rang of other Llyn Peninsula attractions taking place throughout the year.
