Where did this year go? We are already in the month of November leaving us very little time to start organising, planning and booking our festive retreats and activities with family and friends. North Wales hosts a whole variety of activities and events we can attend all year round, but during the festive season there is so much more to look forward to.
Close by to West Point Beach Resort we have the fantastic Welsh Highland Railway. Throughout the year they hold a number of scenic railway journeys which depart from Caernarfon and Waunfawr. Each year they hold themed railway journeys for Easter, Halloween and now Christmas.
The Santa Trains are great fun for all the family, especially the little ones. Santa and his elves will pass through each carriage handing out gifts to all the children, with plenty of laughs and jokes along the way. At both stations you can purchase some last minute gifts from the souvenir shops, with a whole variety of items to choose from.
If you don’t have a young family to take on one of the brilliant Santa Trains, then you may want to consider a visit to Penrhyn Castle. A leisurely thirty minute drive through the scenic roads, the castle is a beautiful place to visit all year round.
This December they are hosting a number of events, suitable for all. Starting on 4th December the North Wales Rugby Choir will be holding a Christmas Concert in the castle’s Grand Hall between 7pm – 10pm.
In addition, on 12th – 13th December the castle will be open for you to explore the siting rooms and Grand Hall, all of which will be dressed for a Victorian Christmas. You can see the way a traditional Christmas looked in those times, and share your traditions too!
There is so much to see and do this Christmas, but be sure to book tickets early for all events that require pre-paid entries. This is to ensure your space is guaranteed and to avoid disappointment.
